Is my level of sexual arousal normal, or weak?

There's two things I could see this being.

1) you could have what's called "responsive desire". "spontaneous desire" is what most people think of when they think of a sex drive, where it comes out of nowhere. Responsive desire is, instead, having the sex drive come out in response to something rather than being generated on its own.

2. You could be asexual. Asexual isn't really a total lack of horniness or sex ever. It's you not ever -wanting- to have sex with people and not being attracted to people in a sexual way. You don't see someone and go "I want to have sex with them". That impulse just doesn't happen.

Well, "not wanting to have sex with people" isn't entirely accurate. You might want to have sex with someone for various reasons. But sex itself is more of a means to an end and not something you really want in and of itself.

Random arousal isn't random. There is a lot fo exaggeration involved.

So what if it takes you half an hour or an hour to get yourself off? You pressed for time? You're not a minute man, that's gonna make any future SO a very happy girly.

Pushing girls away just means you might be a pussy. That's a different problem entirely.

The thing you didn't say, however, is how often you do get aroused. So...how often?

There was a brief period in my life when I lost all sexual arousal, and that was when I was dieting and doing severely low calorie intake. My libido was just fucking gone. I went months at a stretch without an erection. I guess I literally had no energy for it. Almost the moment I stopped the diet and ate more my libido came roaring back.

What I'm trying to get at is that just because you might not be the walking talking erection that some dudes describe isn't a problem. Take all the shit with a grain of salt. Maybe you're just the type of guy that needs more than a woman to breathe in his general direction. When you aren't aroused, when you aren't getting it up at all, *that's* a problem.

I'm pretty sure I'm not asexual, and I don't think my desire is responsive. I like thought of sex, even with people I'm not all that attracted to in terms of personality. But if I imagine, say, having sex with a celebrity, I'd have to think about it for maybe 10 or 15 minutes or so before I get an erection, and I'm quick go flaccid again, even when I'm actively masturbating. While it seems like that same level of arousal comes faster in other people.

How often? Now that I think about it, maybe 1-3 times a day, which seems pretty normal. I might wake up hard, then later on try to masturbate and get hard (after much effort).

But it sure feels like I'm pressed for time.

And yeah, I might just be a pussy. The depression I talked about before was from a lot of abuse (not sexual though) from my family. I'm fine now, but maybe there's some lasting impact in how I respond when people get close to me?

There have been times where I haven't been able to get an erection no matter how hard I tried, but I've never had a complete absence of libido, at least I don't think so in the way you're describing.

I'm pretty similar to you. But I've probably got a worse problem since my doctor just prescribed me viagra. Never got wet dreams, never got hard just by looking at a girl or having one show interest in you or whatever. Makes me feel like I'm missing out, it sucks desu. Haven't tried the viagra yet but I still don't really like the idea of having to use a pill for something that should happen naturally. I'm 20 now too so it's not like I'm fucking old.
