The group during the election was focused on 'economic nationalism' which is putting American workers first. They're fighting against proposals which primarily benefit developing countries. The general theory behind globalist policies is that by propping up developing economies is that we create a new market for American companies to sell their goods. The reality is that many of these companies instead are creating home grown companies directly competing with American companies (ex: Chinese contraband and ripoffs). Democrats completely neglected the 'working man' in favor of trying to address mostly questionable/nominal social issues. They also continuously pushed a narrative that hypocritical - that American workers were going to be replaced by automation and that we need foreigners to do fill American job vacancies.

Contrary to what you read in the media, the group tends to not be so much as white nationalists, but moreso that race should stop being the thing everyone talks about. Democratic leaders obsessing over "black issues", "latino issues", "women's issues" and "muslim issues" is where you hear the words identity politics come into play. It's essentially pandering to certain groups but without addressing many of the root causes of inequality -- wealth & income inequality, nepotistic education systems, increased COL as a result of monopolies growing, and corporations gradually stripping away the rights of the consumer and worker via lobbying and 'contributions'.

After the election the group is just a name the media throws out as a label for pretty much anyone who shows support for Trump. They're focusing more on race again since that's generally the simplest thing to talk about.
