Should I even try to get into PSU?

Long story short, I want to apply at PSU as an adult student. PSU is the most convenient place for me to attend as multiple campuses in driving distance of me. Unfortunately, I dropped out of school in like 10th/11th grade and had failing grades; I did obtain my GED as soon as I turned 18 and had really high scores.

Is there even a point for me to try to apply as an adult student? I was studying for the SAT to make it look better on me when I apply, but from what I understand it might not even be a factor for adult students. (I asked, but they didn't bother to even reply.)

I'm really good at writing out my thoughts, so I don't think any of the application essays would stump me at all. I'm just not sure if my high school grades would bar me from entry completely. Does anybody here know what the criteria is?

I talked to them like a year ago and got this response, but I don't know if it really means much.

"Admitting adult students requires more art than science sometimes. Our basic philosophy is to try to give a person a chance if at all possible and then let their productivity in our classes determine their path.
The application process will include sending you final HS transcript but also your official GED scores to the University Park campus where they are assembled and shared with our campus. Of course an application will need to be filled out as well."

When I talked to them recently, they responded to my first email, but didn't reply to my follow up question; I'd call them, but I don't want to seem annoying (it's only been 48 hours since the follow up question)

TL;DR - Does an adult student have a chance of getting into PSU with low high school scores but a high GED score?

Try. Don't be afraid to annoy them you won't, it's for your benefit in the long run .

It's actually only been 22 hours since my follow up question (but 2 work days for them starting today). Should I call them now or wait a bit longer for a response? I'm pretty sure I'll be talking to the same people. I don't know if they are just flat out ignoring me at this point, which kind of makes me think they see me as a no hoper.
