Hello /adv/
An employer in Massachusetts(Minimum wage is $11/hr) recently offered me employment. They give me a new-hire packet, offer letter, compensation terms, etc.
Get this- The company proposes to pay me $5.50/hr, work me 40 hours per week. They offer a GREAT profit-sharing plan, but then work it into the "salary" information- which, by the way, the position I'm offered does NOT qualify for "Exempt" IE "Salary" status.
The position is for a technical support position, wherein I would package systems, install software, then provide on-going technical support for the system, including warranty repair.
The company has been around for 10 years, and the employees seem happy. What gives? Is this shit legal?
You know you're allowed to see a lawyer with a job offer before you accept, right? Go and talk to someone who knows the intricacies of the law.

You are a salesperson. Salespeople have their own exemptions. Google a bit and you will see how that ends up working out.
Either way, 40k is a shit wage. I would not take that job for sales.

tfw the difference between 40 hours at minimum wage in your state and mine is 150/week or 600 per month.
Thanks state controlled wages.
