What have you guys learned over the years from being in relationships? How do you distinguish a good one from a bad one? How do you decide if you should stay in a relationship or call it quits?

I also have a specific relationship question if anyone would like to help me out with that. I've been dating my boyfriend for a few months, and although I like him and enjoy spending time with him. I'm unsure of how much long term potential the relationship has. Although I'm not looking for Mr perfect I don't want to settle for a relationship that is just okay. However, I also fear that refusing to settle will only lead to me being alone, and that I should just pick a guy I like and am somewhat attracted to and choose to stay with him.
