For many months I was on the depo birth control hormone shot. I didn't like the side effects so I switched to the mirena IUD without a period of "no birth control".

I just got my mirena taken out Monday of this week. At first I spotted lightly. The days that followed, it appeared I was having my first period in about year (or more! I really forget when I started depo). But I have been on mirena since April to August of this year.

Why is my body doing this? I am assuming it's my body returning to a state of normalcy after I fucked it up for a really long time.

Is there any cause for concern? I'm not in any pain. No cramps. I did experience some hot flashes and dizziness which is usual for my periods when I had them.

What should I look out for as my body returns to normal?

How long will it take?

Did you ever take it as pills? If so, what were the effects?
I take Cipralex (anti depressants), and I was told I was fine taking both, so far I've been fine.

Nope never been on any birth control pills. The depo was an injection right into my buttcheek every three months, and it alternated buttcheeks every other dose.
