Have to take driving test soon...

I'm in NYC, and I could possibly go upstate to take the test if it's easier there. My dilemma is that I can drive almost flawlessly, but I cannot for the life of me parallel park. My questions are...
1. Am I guaranteed to get parallel parking as part of my test every time?
2. If I fail the parallel parking part of my test, do I fail the whole thing?
3. If I cannot avoid the parallel parking aspect of the test, does anyone have any /adv/ on how I can figure this out? As things stand I usually can line up my car correctly, but cannot get the parking aspect down.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
