I remember being a child very well- all I wanted was to be spoken to like a human being. Don't condescend, talk to her like an adult and hang out like an adult. Of course there are ways you treat children which are different, but in your tone and when addressing children you should always speak to them normally. Doing otherwise is bad for mental development, makes kids slow and dumb, and also feels bad. Don't you remember being spoken down to ask a kid, and how annoying that was? Just hang out with them, play some video games.
