Why don't you believe that? Many people, male and female (though mainly female) are frightened by "losing control" or letting their emotions or physical responses drive them. They fear that some unnamed and unknown terrible thing will happen.

The solution is to make the whole romantic and sexual setting so reassuring and safe that they are willing to take that risk and let go. (They will then discover, of course, that the thing they feared isn't there, but they have to find that out for themselves.)
