hedgehog's dilemma

op here, realized i didnt really phrase this as a question. is there anything that i can do to improve my situation and stop hurting myself and my friends?

im not really sure, whenever i have a problem i can think of a solution but i just cant bring myself to do it. i was thinking that if there was some other solution i might actually be able to do something for once

It sounds like once you get comfortable around someone you start to care for tact less. Which is understandable in one sense as we keep up appearances to get along and not cause trouble. Once that is gone your unfiltered opinions are left bare for all to see.

I can only think of a few solutions. One, you continue to be rude, but accept that if they're your friends they'll understand or become accustom to it. Two, if they don't you move on in search of someone who will, but that could take a lot of time. Three, you be rude and upfront from the beginning with people and stick who the ones who stay around.

It's hard not to hurt people in any relationship as well as by choosing to be in none. There just needs to be an acceptable level of such and it to be normal for things to carry on without stalling. Best of luck OP.
