Want to learn self defense. Not sure where to start

Learn how to box.

If you can box you're already 98% more adept at defending yourself than most cunts out there.

I do live in St Louis. While I've never had anything happen to me, I'd like to be prepared.

I'll likely begin working as an EMT in the coming months. I've heard some crazy stories of EMTs and paramedics being attacked, shot at, harassed, etc.

I know some self defense isn't going to help in a gunfight, but I'd at least like to have somewhat of a chance if things become physical. And I obviously can't carry a gun on me while working as an EMT.
