>pursued a comp sci degree at a well-respected university for 5 years and didn't graduate
>didn't make any friends or connections for the whole 5 years
>by the last semester I was spending almost all my time drinking alone in my room
>failed all 4 of my classes
>moved back home to my mom's
>mounting debt
>sending out job applications feels like shouting into a void
>have exactly one personal project to show employers that involves a front-end (Vue.js, Pug), a back-end (Node/Express), Chromecast and Android
I KNOW I would be an asset to any company that hired me, but I can't even get an audience with a hiring manager. I've been lurking r/cscareerquestions and it seems like even those with a degree and multiple projects and internship experience have a hard time getting a foot in the door. What jobs should I be looking at? Data entry? How boned am I?
Call center / tech support type jobs are soul sucking and the pay is shit but better than nothing and a good way to build social skills, maybe even get a foot in the door. Staffing /temp agencies have gotten me most of my jobs like that
Look into TripleByte if you actually know CS.
Don't send your application to HR, send it to someone higher up.
build your GitHub like a motherfucker.
I beefed the fuck out of my GitHub starting from age 18. Currently 22 and make $90k/yr and I still have a semester of school left. GitHub is your saving grace if you don't have real creds or a degree.

Who? This sounds like it would only work if you had a really impressive resume
Prove to me you can fizzbuzz then if you're so great

Whaddaya think I am, some kinda coding genius?
>>18603358
No fizzbuzz == no software job

>didn't make any friends or connections for the whole 5 years
This is actually one of the main purposes of college. It's like the only useful thing these schools actually offer you: a foot in the door

>Asset to any company
>failed classes
>only one project
>no internships or patents
Better start slaving awayat github projects for free if you want to compete with pajet
Or just use connections like any smart person. That's how you actually get good jobs, by talking to people

>GitHub
Not OP, but GitHub confuses the hell out of me. I'm not techy so that might be why.
