Find some sort of community based hobby/interest that interests you.
whether it's going to local video game/magic tournaments,school clubs, work environment or something more physical like sports.
Try to be pretty low-key and polite and focus on helping people around you. Your brand of social interaction, might be a little strange to people, but only at first, once they understand you, it won't matter.
It's okay to be the "quite one", if you focus on being kind and being an asset to those around you, people won't care about any social quirks you may or may not exhibit.
