I'm up for a promotion. It's over $20k increase. I'm really great at what I do. I can talk to all my bosses and their bosses no problem. I've even had lunch with them before. We exchange stories and stuff. I have no problem with them. The thing is, whenever I know I'm interview or going to interview, I get crazy anxiety. Except I know what the issue is. I have about a 1000 thoughts a second. I imagine every possible answer I can give and how they'll react. So I start off great with an answer, then I get ahead in my head and lose my place. What can you guys suggest? Any anti anxiety pills that'll slow my thought process enough to think clearly? My interview is next month. Anything else I can take? Any suggestions at all? Again, my problem lies in my thinking too much, not necessarily my confidence or my work skills. Thanks
Hey OP I have basically the same thing, but I haven't tried any pills.
In my experience practicing the interview until you get comfortable with your answers is the only way. Do it with someone, friend/gf, or even just write down 30 interview questions and practice a few a day until you get comfortable with the words that come out of your mouth.
If I don't do that and I go in "blind", I basically fuck up every interview. I will give an honest answer but I will ramble and give an incoherent answer because my mind just goes everywhere. Being organized really helps with my anxiety at work (Generalized anxiety, retail district manager), and the only way to organize your thoughts is to memorize.
Good luck, hope you get it!
