Hello. I've been suffering with swollen tonsils for a while now. I went to my retarded doctor twice (once a nurse practitioner and then my gp) both of them looked in the back of my throat and said they were "huge". So my gp referred me to an ENT. The reason I'm so pissed is because, no matter how much I asked them to give me some steroids or antibiotics they refused and said to gargle saltwater for the time being. Right now they hurt like a b*tch and I don't know what else to do. Is there any home remedies or teas or even sprays from a CVS I could get to bring the swelling down? Please help.

I would suggest going to the ER if nothing your doctors are doing helps.

Try ginger tea, relieves pain, and reduces inflammation. Also salt water mouth wash helps too. Best of luck.

Hey op. You could maybe visit your pharmacist and enquirie as to what they have to offer. Depending on your country they might be able to give you some codeine or something that in all honesty might not do a whole lot.
Another idea that just occurred to me is that in my country (Australia) supermarkets and pharmacists sell throat lozenges containing lindocaine which is a quite potent local anaesthetic. That would be what I'd try. If the pain is to much to bear though, check yourself into your local ed like the previous anon suggested. That was a good idea. Good luck!

Chloraseptic throat spray. Buy the walmart brand it does the same thing.
Tastes like shit but makes swallowing bearable.
