It would, yes.
If you want to be come a carpenter full time, it's a must. If you don't, it's still a hobby that involves profit. It's a good idea if you have the time and likes the craft.
It's a fairly comfy and honest trade. But the reality right now is, the demand is very low. We're near another housing bubble; foreign investors are buying properties left and right, and millenials are just leaving with their parents or renting apartments. I mean, I'm sure it's geographical. But just generalizing, it's not very in demand. If you want to make a solid living, go into plumbing or electrical instead. Those trades are in demand everywhere.

becoming an actual good welder is hard tho
