Alright guys need some /adv/ice. Ive had problems with alcohol abuse for a long time, and recently it's been taking a negative impact on my job/relationship/fitness/life goals. basically I'm ready to quit but I'm not sure that I can.
any fellow anons have any experience of this? can anyone point me to some good books/tools/resources that might help me give up or at least get it under control?

A good book for anything willpower related is The Willpower Instinct by Kelly McGonigal.
Many tips related to improving your willpower, as well as it teaches how it works in the brain and in the mind. It might help you, bro!
