i'm looking for a board like 4chan but with more active conversation. i don't leave the house very often and just want to talk to people but 4chan is too slow and too edgy.

What you really need is a good hobby. You find a solid hobby, then you have a medium with which you can use to connect with others.
It could be computer shit, art, music, vidya, politics... pretty much fucking anything. Get a good hobby, find a solid community, and take it from there. Vidya is pretty easy. Lot's of online gaming communities looking for members for games, and usually hundreds per game.
