Never really felt the need to post here, but I find myself in quite the internal conflict.
I recently graduated with a BA in criminal justice. While I originally planned to go into a federal job such as the FBI or CIA (which do hire straight out of college) I found myself not agreeing with a lot what these agencies are really doing. A lot of this information came from the professors themselves! Still, I didn't feel like changing majors mid-way and stuck with it.
Now I find myself trying to find a career, and there are still many criminal justice fields I can work in such as internal investigations, safety operations, and compliance officers. But most recently I was offered an interview for to be an insurance agent which starts out at $16-$18. I don't know why they have that range, but that is what they told me.
Aside from my degree I have pretty good work experience, am I settling for something to low? Or am I acting too picky into today's economy? I want to know what you guys think, and what careers any of you started out with straight out of college I really don't want to be 20 years down the road and feeling bad that I didn't shoot higher.
You could always take the job, and apply while you're working as an agent.
You need to make money anyway. Keep sending out your resume, leaving off the insurance agent shit, and if you get a call back within a month, drop the insurance agent shit for a better gig.
Insurance companies will hire anyone with a degree. BA, BSc, BFA, etc.

This. Take it now, then switch to something else if you find it.
Also criminal justice can be a minefield in relation to finding a job that meshes with your values and morals.
