If I serve in the (Canadian) military will I improve as a person. I know I'll probably get physically stronger, but will I get mental stronger and more disciplined if I job the army for a few years? I don't really care for fighting for my nation, but if I intend as a person it might be worth it.
If I'm just going to be wasting my time sweeping floors and being some sergeant's bitch I'm not sure if I will. Did joining the army make you a better person or are there better paths? I want to eventually go to law school.
Idk about Canada, but in the US the military is a good way to become a less shit person. I've seen it take many a fuckboy and churn out better-mannered fuckboys.
In the US at least, it's the quietest and proudest form of welfare.
I'll be real though, it's all about what you put in, and it won't be without temptations. If you want that go to rehab. There are drugs. There is fuckery.
What makes you shitty now and what do you want to improve? Maybe that's a better place to start

Imho part of progressing as a person and maturing, which i consider improvement, is growing more independent. In the military you will be told what to do and you do it, you will not be able to make many choices and rely on your emotions to push you forward and be strong willed to go through with it. If you really aim for improvement get a job and dedicate all your freetime and money into it rather than join the military.

: Battle is the Great Redeemer. It is the fiery crucible in which true heroes are forged. The one place where all men truly share the same rank, regardless of what kind of parasitic scum they were going in.

Nah dude. The appeal is in the idea you'll come out disciplined and respectable yes?
Well be more imaginative. Monks are disciplined too. I'm not religious I'm just trying to point out that there are alternative ways to suffer and be a man or whatever that don't involve creating actual suffering and KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE.

Especially don't listen to this faggot. He is right in that suffering causes people to bond. He is wrong in thinking the only way to do this is war. War is not glorious. Don't be fodder.
The advice here helped. Looks like I'm not joining the army.
