Hey. Long story short:
Anxious about an upcoming operation. It's not too serious as it's only a cholesteatoma and it's 3 hours, but I'm having an issue with it. I have social anxiety and up until this year I've barely been to the hospital and only as a very young kid. A few months ago I had a related smaller operation so I thought I wouldn't have anxiety for the next one, but turns out that's not the case.
I'm not a squeemish sort of person by any means and I like to think I'm pretty desensitized to things like this and I know I'll be a sleep. But that's just it. I know I'm going have butterflies when they're about to use the general anaesthetic even though I've had it before. I just hate the situation of being in a hospital. All the people. The smells, etc. I know no one likes hospitals, but it doesn't help I have anxiety in the first place.
Any ideas to help with this?

Just went through this last week OP, finishing my pain meds today.
Just relax and know that it will pass in time. You aren't going to enjoy it, it's going to suck, and there may even be complications. But, you'll be done with the hospital within an afternoon, and can manage things on your own after that. It's just a few hours. Besides, you're expected to be nervous. Ask questions to the nurses, I bet at least one will be cute.
Just relax dude. It's something you have to do but once you do it, it's done...
