okay /adv/, i'm an Amerifag and there is a girl in another country that I am really into. I have not asked her out, but i have been thinking about it for a couple of days now, She is a really good match to my personality ( I don't think i can stress enough how much i think our personalities are a perferct match) and I wanted to know whether or not it is a good idea to be hung up on this and if possible any advise on how to ask her?
>>
>>18571366
How old are the two of you? Generally I wouldn't recommend crossing national borders for a girl but my best friend is engaged to a Japanese girl so what do I know? Just ask her out, you literally have nothing to lose
>>
>>18571376
This.

Long distance within the same country is hard enough I can't imagine making this work.
>>
>>18571376
>>18571384

That is what i was thinking at first, but im pretty aspie when it comes to socialization and have a pretty isolated job (tier 2 tech support) so meeting someone new is pretty difficult.
>>
>>18571366
I've been in a similar situation. I wouldn't recommend it.
>>
>>18571404
Just ask her out, if she feels the same great, if not, it's a thousand times easier staying friends long distance than it is when you're near each other
>>
>>18571414
What happened?
>>
>>18571366
You realize it's probably a 40 year old hairy dude who is telling you what you want to hear so that you'll send money. Right?
>>
>>18571366
No, you should not chase a LDR, especially with someone from another country.

Moving goalposts. At any rate, looking at your wisdom, yeah, you should totally go for the relationship. The experience should prove to be enlightening.

I already got back on topic. I think you should go for it. Not because I think it's a very good idea, but because it's pretty obvious that you need to go and obtain some wisdom, and you seem to be one of those types that will only get wisdom through first-hand experience.

This is about five years ago: I met a girl online from Brazil. I talked to her for a few months via Skype. I felt like we really clicked; she was easier to talk to than anybody I had ever met, and I felt like I could talk to her about anything. We flirted a lot. We sent each other small gifts in the mail. Maybe six months after we started talking to each other, I told her I loved her, and she said the same. Whenever we talked after this, we'd say this. Maybe a month after I told her I loved her, I asked her if we were in a relationship. She said we weren't. I didn't take it well. I was confused, because I didn't understand what she meant when she said she loved me.

It took a while for me to get over her. I do talk to her now, maybe a few times every couple months, but I had to completely change the way I thought about her.

I have an in-person friend who had an actual long-distance relationship with a girl from Taiwan, which I think lasted about a year.
>>
I live in Ecuador and I would not recommend moving here for some chick bro. I know you probably have feelings for her, but those can fade. being stuck in a socialist shithole like this wont.

if it was a place like Europe of Australia or maybe some not so shitty part of Latin America like Mexico or Argentina then maybe I would say yes, but Ecuador is a bad idea.
>>
>>18571604
Hasn't Argentina declared bankruptcy as a country several times? Hardly a model country, unlike, say Chile.
>>
>>18571625
yeah it has, but most of the people in south America would agree that Chile is also a hotbed for crime. granted that yes, Mexico is pretty much Mob City Mexico and Argentina have a pretty good track record of mobility especially Mexico since of late 2011 it has seen a pretty good flow of Mexicans returning back to Mexico.

Argentina on the other hand just elected a pretty seemingly decent guy so I think there is hope. but yes Chile has it's nice parts. my brother lives in puerto montt with his wife and 2 kids.

are you from south america too anon?
>>
>>18571639
No. I've just studied the economical output of countries in the Western Hemisphere. Chile punches well above its weight, being the 3rd highest GDP in the Western Hemisphere (after the US and China), despite lacking many of the resources that other countries have (shit like the rain forest in Brazil, the oil reserves in Venezuela, etc). From what I can gather, this is due to them embracing capitalism even more than places like Canada and the US, with Charter Schools and a voucher program, to kill off poorly performing schools, which no other country in the West has, to my knowledge.

no argument there.
Socialism breeds criminal garbage with a innate mentality of "what's yours is also mine" and creates problems.

that's why Mexico has been so fucking shitty for the past 90 years. back before ww2 Mexico had alot of potential but it decided like my country to listen to that jack off "che" and now look at us. good on you guys in the united states for not electing that moron bernie sanders. I herd he was a communist fag.

if socialism is so awesome bernie, how come I have to sleep with this next to my alarm clock?

Anyways, yes. Fuck socialism. And there is literally no better way to express that than to carry a gun. Simply by owning one, it means that you do not trust the state to take care of you (which is why so many states try to restrict/outlaw firearms).
>>

yeah, good reply bro.
don't do it, I mean if you want to get world wide tail get a job that lets you do that bro. like a stock trader, I herd those guys make bank just living of dividend and flying around the world.

>>
>there is a girl in another country that I am really into

What do you like about Ecuador, OP?
>>
>>18571701

yeah bro, you'd be surprised how many people who are not living off state benefits truly hate socialism and communism. people here know it's crypto-jew bullshit and only destroys peoples hopes and dreams.

people here in Quito can't even set up a business for themselves without having to bribe some slimy municipal office clown for a permit. it's utter shit. I'm happy trump won the election in America. I like going to youtube and watching him make all those lesbians with dumb haircuts cry.

and as far as Mexico goes, Donald Trump's plan will actually help Mexico deporting all those people back; think about it Mexi bros? 16 million americanized Mexicans coming back? no way they will just sit back and let carlos slim and other jews continue to fuck Mexico up the ass.
there is a reason you guys leave, and it's time you all stop running from it and fucking other people up in the process.

Latin America is with Trump!

that's a sweet looking Revolver anon! is that a laser?!! dude I got to upgrade, this pistol was my first when I turned 18 my uncle gave it to me when my dad passed away. then I bought a glock and I carry that in my car.

I know it's illegal in Ecuador; but since the police won't do shit about crime here, I have to protect myself and my mom. it's just the two of us now.

how is the recoil with those rubber grips anon? mine kinda bites my hand abit for a 38s
>>
>>18571723
The grip isn't too bad, keeping in mind that it is a snub nose. Yes, it does have a laser on it, and changing the battery on it is an utter bitch, and shouldn't really be relied on for anything other than a training aide.

But the rounds you put into it are going to do more for recoil than the grips themselves. For my Bodyguard, I use this: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2719493508/speer-gold-dot-short-barrel-ammunition-38-special-p-135-grain-jacketed-hollow-point

There is a board specifically for the discussion of weapons...
>>
>>18571737
how is the expansion with hollow points on snub nose revolvers? I mostly load standard FMJ non +p ammo on it.

here in South America it sucks because there are really only 2 ways of getting personal weapons for protection.

you either buy of a store that will most likely put you on a watch list as a gun owner, or you buy off a private sellers. but it's illegal here to buy like that so I have to go to Lima, Peru any time I want to buy more ammo or buy a new gun. I'm certain I am on a watch list here in Ecuador for buying my Remington even though it took about 3 mouths to get it.

in lima I bought my glock 17 (too bad it's a first get from the 80's) and a cheap Chinese Norinco.
9mm but so far it's shot pretty good. I want to get a Walther PPS that gun would be perfect for concealed carry. the 17 is a little bit too big for my waist line.

do you carry that 38 on your person anon?

>do you carry that 38 on your person anon?
I do. Conceal Carry without a permit (legal in my state), in a pocket holster, private sale. My wife carries the Shield 9mm, and uses terminal shock ammo (fragmenting rounds) https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLIHwT3Jdib2_kzQfxmOC_iJcdTIw5bz8S&time_continue=2&v=rZgVv8UFYx0

It's the gun on the right in pic related. Single stack, of course, It would have to be at that thin.
>>
>>18571770
ok that's fair.

but again, I rest my point. OP if your moving to south america for a girl just remember, it's a pretty dangerous place, either move there and blend in, or stay armed.

do you speak spanish by the way OP? it's very crucial you do. most of the grimy indians and blacks here will try and rob you if they think your a tourist.

that also reminds me, stay out of tourist spots if you do move or even visit, we've been having a rash of robberies because of blacks from El Salvador coming here making their way into Peru.

stay safe where ever you go and what you decide to do.

that is a mean looking wound cavity. fatal really. I don't understand why people rag on the 38s. it's a solid self defense round. but then again, most that do probably are carrying around 10 pound 1911s and bragging about being able to double tap with a 45acp.

>Conceal Carry without a permit (legal in my state)

when I studied in the united state of America, I lived in California and the gun laws there seemed to be pretty crazy with the anti gun laws. and it's a bit stupid given that I visited this city called Oakland that is near by and some of the places there looked a little worse than here in quito (no offense to anyone).

do you recommend the PPS for a every day carry. I sometimes need to go into work and I have to use the buses and it sucks not being able to carry there.

how has it shot with the reduced grip? I've also herd thin guns are harder to handle when they go up in recoil.
>>
>>18571812
how old is she? if she travels on a visitors visa and you marry her she's be able to stay in the states because she's your wife right?

I mean I'd have to look it up but I'm sure that's how this Pakistani guy I met in college there got to stay in the united states, he met a woman and got married.

Again, Quito is not THAT bad, I mean, I came back and I found pretty good employment here as a system administrator for a school, I'm sure if your well educated you can find something here that will accommodate most of what your probably used to living in America.

Cali is in the top 4 for worst gun laws. Washington DC, New York, and Illinois are the others (DC is hands down the worst, but the other states can all depend on your wants/needs).

1911s are a stupid gun to carry. I could go into the reasons, but it sounds like you don't need convincing.

>do you recommend the PPS for a every day carry.
It's a good quality gun, and affordable, but it's comparable in price to the S&W Shield, which is easier to conceal carry. It can be a good gun. Just depends on what you want out of it.

>how has it shot with the reduced grip? I've also herd thin guns are harder to handle when they go up in recoil.
Presuming you're talking about the Shield. She trains and carries using the extended grip that comes with the gun. It holds an extra bullet, and allows your pinky finger to grip.
>>
>>18571366
Thanks for all the replies everyone. I think I'm just going to hold out and find someone locally in the states (even if it takes a little longer).

>I've also herd thin guns are harder to handle when they go up in recoil.
Shit, forgot to answer this. It doesn't hurt, if that's what you're asking, and the 9mm version of this isn't bad. My wife can reliably shoot quickly with it (roughly 1 round every 1-1.5 second), and she's like 120lbs. That said, yeah, you're gonna have to train, just like any other gun.
>>
>>18571847
>1911s are a stupid gun to carry.
yeah, they look like a good idea, then when you pick one up and hold it in your hand you realize it just not going to happen. I almost made the mistake of buying one over my glock.

>It's a good quality gun, and affordable, but it's comparable in price to the S&W Shield, which is easier to conceal carry. It can be a good gun. Just depends on what you want out of it.

I'm mainly looking for maximum concealment;
here in Ecuador you can't carry around a gun, but since the police always seem to never be around when you need them and also there when you don't I have no choice but to break my countries fucking stupid rule on guns.

but i'm one of those people who would rather have one and never need it; than need one and not have one.

that being said, I work in a office and I need something that I can sit with, walk around with and also light weight enough that it wont print and scream GUN!! when people look at me.

I mainly carry this when I work or I'm out and about with my mother or uncle.

(picture related)

it's a chinese zastava clone, when I was in Lima 2 years ago I got a deal on it by my seller there and picked it up for a good price. but I honestly don't trust my life to it. I've herd good things about it, and it shoots well, but I just dont feel good with this on me.

I'm looking to replace that so I can give my mom my 38s and put my glock back inside my house and carry the PPS with me.
My seller says he can get one for a decent price by next month.

>Presuming you're talking about the Shield. She trains and carries using the extended grip that comes with the gun. It holds an extra bullet, and allows your pinky finger to grip.

the shield remind me alot of the barrette storm. for some reason I've always wanted a 9mm barrette and can never seem to get my hands on one here.
that shield looks like it came straight out of a jason bourne movie. good looking pistol anon.

>I'm mainly looking for maximum concealment;
Maximum concealment typically requires a .380 ACP, which I wouldn't recommend (although if you're set on maximum concealment, the Beretta Nano is a good choice). You'll be dealing with the pinky issue, a decent amount of recoil for the round, and penetration will be less than 9mm.

Shield is what you want for minimum print. Nothing else comes close. Again, look at that difference between the M&P Compact (9mm) and the Shield. 0.2 inches is a LOT when talking about concealment and printing. It's honestly a size that is usually reserved for .380 acp guns. A Walther COULD work, depending on what you wear to work (if you're wearing slacks, pretty much anything will print under the right circumstances, for example, and thinness is a priority). If you're wearing thick jeans with deep pockets, on the other hand, not even your revolver will print badly with a pocket holster. Which is to say, it won't print badly enough for people to know what it is.

>>18571897
1911's don't look like a good idea if you do any research into them.

It’s a 100-year old design. It needs tools to disassemble. It has unreliable magazines. It is finicky about ammo. And, as a single-action pistol, it is unsafe for 95% of its users to carry. There's also the issue with slide-stop failures, and the whole internal extractor/external extractor situation. Either of which would be serious enough to kill any other design’s reputation in the shooting world.

1911s are made for safes and for shooting competitions (and only shooting competitions because said shooting competitions typically have intricate rules that wind up barring most non-1911 handguns).

1911's are just a really bad deal for the typical user.
>>
>>18571922
>.380 ACP
I've thought about getting a night ruger lcp because of it's size and ability to be able to be ankled carried, but I just don't see a six shot .380 being able to be justified when i can get a s&w detective clone like a arms core m206 that I can carry 38s +p and be a far better option.

someone in lima tried to sell me a clone of the LCP from kel-tec arms and I looked at it and it looked shittier than chinese guns i've held in the past. and it's an american gun?? what's up with that?

I normally wear a typical suit and tie to work, it's a regular office building and I figured I could get away with brining my g17 inside my suit jacket pocket with my but the holster is awkward as shit and if I wanted to carry it I'd have to carry it without a holster and I wont do that because I don't want shoot myself reaching for it.

should I just get a upgraded bodyguard? I mean, I've always trusted revolvers, the only reason I bought my glock is to have a semi auto with me, but I don't think I will need all those 15 rounds since most crooks are cowards who run after their intended victim fights back.

but then again, this is Ecuador..
>>

not to mention 45acp is a dumb round in general with or without a 1911.

it's impossible to control unless your a bodybuilder with vices for hands and even then it wont penetrate any better than a .40 S&W will or even a 9mm.

I feel like those who carry a 45acp have not shot many other rounds and think that because it's big and loud it must be the best.

I would take a 40 and 9mm over a 45acp any day of the week.

now 380 is another story..
>>
>>18571957
If you're wearing a suit, I'd recommend the Shield. That's just me. In the US, new, you can expect a Walther PPS to cost about 600 USD from a big box store. A Shield can be purchased from the same store for 449 USD. With the extended mag for pinky grip, you get 8 in the mag, 1 in the chamber. Safety is easy to disable one handed. Stiff trigger out of the box, but that's easy to fix.

If you can get a Shield, I would.
>>
>>18571972
