How does someone go about remodelling there basement in general? I live in Ontario, if that helps for codes and what not, but I have no clue where to start.
Currently the room is bare stone walls and concrete floor with a furnace in the corner. I want to turn it into a hobby room for future use.
How would I got about this?
Pic related is more or less identical to my basement.

Depends on what you're wanting to do. I'm sure for everything you want to do, there is an online guide.
Or you could just hire a carpenter to do it for you.

I live in eastern europe, and when I hear the "basement dweller" meme, I initially never got this, since in my country, it's not very common for houses to even have basements to begin with. Most of the living space in eastern europe is apartment blocks (google "commieblocks"). Then I saw how basements in america look like, such as on your picture, and it's really outlandish. Like, that's a huge ass fucking basement, so much room. I live at my parents right now due to circumstances, and house has 2 stories but no basement, only a tiny separate basement by previous owner for storing jars we don't use. Why are these huge basements a norm in the americas? What the hell...

I was just curious about if there was anything I should now, safety wise, about constructing a basement. Also was checking if people had done something similar and could provide insight.
Thus far I plan to install walls on the exterior and create a new partition to separate the furnace, though Im not sure how far away it should be. I also plan on retiling the floor and then doing the ceiling as well, Im just not too sure on where to start, if I need permits or stuff like that.
TLDR; Fishing for people with renovation experience.
