How old is absolutely too old to be living with your parents? Asking for my 23 year old friend, h-heh
>>
>>18560995
You're good friender. I'm 23 and living with my parents. Bout to leave for a 3 month internship, but then I'll be back looking for the next job
>>
>>18560995

there is no answer. you will get a lot of different answers, which proves there is no 'absolutely'. its really less about where you are and more about what you're doing.

if you are going to be with your parents indefinitely, then thats bad. but if you got real goals and a real plan then it doesn't really matter.
>>
>>18561001
I've been working full time since I moved back in from college, two years ago. A combination of poor money management and low pay has kept me at home.

I'm currently looking for new jobs, and my goal is to find one that pays well enough to afford living on my own. Hope to move out by the end of this year, but then again that's what I said in 2015 and 2016...
>>
>>18560995
Depends on what's going on with your life. If you're interning or going for a Master's or something, that's fine. If not, it's time to move out.
>>
>>18561009
In what country do you live? If you live in the US, in just about any non-metro, you can find rent for under 600 per month.
>>
If you're American, 5 years ago.
>>
Depends on your culture, in my country it is OK to keep living with your parents until you are 30.
I'm 25, just graduated from my Master's degree and I still live with my parents.
>>
>>18561035
I'm in LA, and my career trajectory traps me here. A studio would probably be 1000 a month absolute minimum

>>18561038
Shit

>>18561040
What country is that?
>>
Moving out of your parent's home at 18 is an outdated meme desu. Lots of countries around the world have people who live with their parents up until their mid 20s, only to go on to find success in their later life and start families of their own.
>>
I'm 29 and live with my parents but in my defense I had moved out and was living on my own but they asked me to move into and look after my grandmas house when she went to a home and then they eventually moved in with me.
>>
>>18561093
>I'm in LA, and my career trajectory traps me here
Then you are a dumbass for choosing a career that trapped you in a literal meat grinder, where the best of the best of the best live like kings, and everyone else struggles to achieve mediocrity.

You can literally live a more comfortable life in a small town, working full time at a Walmart deli, than you could working most jobs with a degree in LA.
>>
Depends on where you live among other factors. I live in a post-commie second world shithole and it's normal here to live with you parents well into your twenties as long as you do something. You can study or work and save up for your own apartment/house. You can fuck off if you're a NEET, though.
>>
Dunno, and don't care.
I am 27 and live with parents. There are no opportunities to live somewhere else, cause I don't have a job.
>>
>>18561192
What would you do if your parents died in a car crash tomorrow?
>>
I'm 28 and I live with my parents because I moved back to my home town and I'm enjoying saving money too much to move out.
>>
>>18561195
Kill myself. I also consider to be male prostitute, but not sure how to start.

I considered the same thing at the lowest point of my life.

>tfw lived in the ivory tower my whole life
>theoretical interest without a care for muh real world application
>used to other people paying me to study
>used to comfy living standards
>research grant no longer enough

I got contacts from some escorts I met on /soc/. In the end I didn't go through with it though. I'm dating a rich girl now.
>>
>>18560995
Quick checklist:
Can you support yourself (ex. housing, clothing, food, etc)?
Are you physically and mentally fit to be on your own?

If you answered yes then you should move out. Doesn't matter if you are a teenager or a 40 year old manlet; the same rules apply.

I'd say it's 25 at max. I moved away right after I turned 18 and it was good move in every aspect. Sure you're going to pay for your living, but the freedom to fap whenever you like without the fear getting caught is best thing ever.

My parents want me to inherit their farm, so fuck the haters, I'm going to live in a big-ass house and a dank farm.
>>
I'm my country/culture you basically live with your parents until you get married or if you and your girl/boyfriend can afford it.

Living alone is taboo and room mates that are non relatives is just weird. People don't really trust living with random people.
>>
>>18562192
I've never understood this, doesn't people get issues with their self dignity if they are staying that long with their parents?
>>
Depends. If you're simply being a NEET leech and not even attempting to better yourself then 19 and over is too old. If you're simply taking care of them cause they're old and you don't want to shove them in an shitty retirement home where people only visit you if you nag them hard enough and the workers emotionally/physically abusive, then it doesn't matter how old you are.

If you need to tell people, just say your parents live with me
>>
30? i'm mexican though so it's different in my culture. idk why
>>
Also instead of focusing all your brain power on why you're a loser and trying to confirm it through anonymous shitposters, you should think on ways to improve your life. how to get that raise/job, how to improve your health, and your relationships.
>>
>>18562229
Why? If you work and earn money there's nothing wrong with it.

There's no real benefit for dumping a large amount of your paycheck down a sink hole when that money could actually go towards bettering your life condition and your future.

>You can literally live a more comfortable life in a small town, working full time at a Walmart deli, than you could working most jobs with a degree in LA.

Well, the thing is not everyone wants to live in a flyover shithole that's dying anyway due to opiates and brain drain (to cities) because young people realize living with people who think working at a Walmart deli is an ideal life.

Someone who goes to a state school to get an engineering degree will lead a life several times better than some hick working at a retail chain known for its trashiness.
>>
>>18562454
Just the idea living with parents while being that old sounds very weird. Despite having job and all, it somehow gives an impression that person is still neglected to parents like a child and unable to have full control and responsibility of his/her life.

It's just completely different how it's seen here: Parents are basically pushing their children out home when they are getting over 20 years old. Temporary living is another thing though, for example I lived with my parents while I was in army since distance from my apartment was way longer to the barracks.
>>
>>18560995
I'd say past 25 is odd, but it depends from culture to culture. I cannot even understand WHY some people are kicked out at 18. It's ridiculous. You just got out of high school, there is literally nothing you can do to make a living except suffer. Why not let your kid stay home a bit longer and save up money, so they are actually comfortable when they leave?
>>
>>18563284
>I cannot even understand WHY some people are kicked out at 18
You see this mentality with parents who are poor/low-IQ (same thing really). "Once all the kids are out of the house, finally we'll have enough money.".
>>
Everyone has different situations.

For me, I'm 25 and living at home. After a few months of saving I could move out. But i cant right now. Why? I have a brother 1/2 my age. I take him to and from school, day care or sports stuff. Without me, my mom would not be able to have the work hours she has, or the flexibility since she is the only adult in my bros life.
>>
>>18562479
There are low cost major cities that are not in flyover country.

Currently in the process of buying a house in Pittsburgh. There are some decent places for under 100k. If you are /diy/ there are many more places to chose from. The window is closing quick as more of the city gentrifies.

My total monthly payment will be a tad under $600/month on an 80k house. It needs some work, but I have a few hundred a month to throw at diy projects. $600/month here will get you a shitty apartment in the ghetto.
>>
Nobody elses view on your living situation matters bar yours and your parents.

The only acceptable answer is as long as you want.
>>
I am 30 and still living with parents. have a good job and shit so I can afford to live elsewhere (also did for like 3 years after college ended) but I feel like the only reason to get out of the house is to date girls or something (which I'm not that interested in doing)
>>
>>18560995
I'm 30 but in my culture it's not seen as odd. It's expected to stay with family sometimes until you get married.

Still, living in the USA, I think I'm reaching the limits of what they would be willing to understand.

Regardless, I'd say up to 30 isn't so bad if you had a good relationship with your family and aren't some obvious social fuckup with no future in your career.
>>
My older borther lived with our parents until he was 27 despite having gf for 5 of those years and going to uni. He is 32 now and making mid 6 figures, living with his gf in a comfy apartment.

Don't look at other people.

It's because Mexicans are generally accepted to be piss poor and have the burden of some accidentally made little shit(s) weighing them down financially and putting them into welfare land while they're only in their early 20s or even teens.

MOSTLY this is because of single mom Latinas. Seriously Latinas get baby mama'd like fucking crazy.
>>
>>18563518
makes sense lol. that was pretty much my family's situation until my teens

but now we're in the upper middle class range and i still live with my folks at 21 cause i love em and i'm going to school, might as well save money while i can.
>>
>>18560995
Depends on if you're utilizing the time with your parents to save and maximize your earnings. Let's say you just finished college last year and now you're paying off loans, saving to get yourself comfortable, to afford your first place or a better car, or allowing yourself to have residual income for traveling. Not only are you responsible and making proper use of your parents hospitality, (because they really don't have to let you stay) you're significantly better off than someone idiotic or unfortunate enough to decide to or be forced to get a shitty apartment somewhere with shitty roommates and high rent, which makes saving (and life) harder.

23 is not a bad time to live at home. Be useful to your parents while you're there and leave when you're ready, because you're honestly more of a inconvenience on them if you move out too early and fall flat on your face financially.

If you're just being a shitty basement dweller then it doesn't matter what age you are, you're a loser.
>>
>>18561108
>working at WALMART of all places allows for a comfortable life
>being a literal fucking wagecuck

Yeah no have fun wanting to kill yourself working jobs literally meant for teenagers and old people waiting to die

That's probably 5 years from now
