I feel like when I talk, the window of time I get to talk is extremely small compared to others, like I have to rush to fit in all of what I want to say before someone immediately jumps in and snatches the floor from me.. I never feel comfortable taking even a second to think of a word because almost always someone jumps in and finishes my sentence or just uses it as a segway to the next topic.
I feel like I never get a chance to flesh out my thoughts or to pause and reflect mid conversation with my coworkers, or plainly at work
the problem is most definitely me. but what is causing this?
I consciously try to talk slowly and to listen and engage and not interrupt, but I feel like the same courtesy in some aspects is NEVER given to me.. today during a meeting I got harmlessly cut off and it took everything within me to just let it go, which is kind of ridiculous but at the same time, what the fuck man.
Make sure you are expressing excitement and confidence when you talk. It should be a pleasure to listen to you speak even if you arent saying anything at all. If someone cuts you off and it was blatant, let them know. Just say, "hey man I wasn't finished".
