To directly answer OP's question: How far do your parents go when they perform a search? Do they just look around without touching anything, do they open every door and drawers, do they open every container? Would they look behind furniture or inside a stuffed animal? Other useful information: are you informed in advance that your parents are coming or is it possible that they perform a surprise search? If you are informed in advance you can use a complicated hiding spot, since you won't have to access it often. If they can appear at any moment then it will be more difficult to find a hiding spot that is both secure and convenient.

Yeah actually that is legal. As said, with no paperwork or lease OP has no rights. The deed to the house is in his/her parents name. They own the property, OP just lives there.

Now in the same breath, without paperwork OP also has NO obligation to pay rent. All the parents can do if s/he refuses to pay is to kick them out. I suspect they won't though because they obviously enjoy the powertrip they have over OP and his/her sister.
