I have poor memory retention. I barely remember anything I've read/seen after a few weeks. It's hard for me to make small talk since I forget facts and info all the time even though I read the news/wiki a lot. Did anyone else beat this problem?
Exercise, meditation, eating healthy, and sleeping early. Do all of these and you'll be fine. After this, learn speed reading and memory techniques or mnemonic device. I'm in a similar situation like you, can't remember anything but my peers say I have a photographic memory even though it isn't like it used to be.

I do all of those and my memory still sucks. I've been doing it for about 3 months now
Do you watch porn, smoke, or drink alcohol ?

Have you had a serious illness? Has it always been like this? If not, do you remember if anything significant occurred during this change?

I had depression and anxiety since I was 15. Don't remember how my memory was before this. I'm 23 now. I went to a therapist but it didn't help.
pls respond

Kek
I'm curious but, how bad is your memory ? Got any examples ?

I read through the game of thrones books 4 months ago and I don't remember a single plotline. I remember a few memorable characters and a few memorable scenes but thats about it.
That's a good start. The brain is like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it becomes.

Man, I've been using it for 23 years. I read a lot but never retain
Curious, has it been this way always?
I'm female and about your age and I too have had it but only for the last two years. Like when I study I must take comprehensive notes of every single page because I forget it once I've read it. But I my case the doctors says it is due to long term stress and won't disappear until my stress levels go down which is easy for them to say as they are not in university.

Its been this way since I was 15. I was stressed when I was 15 too. Kek. I recently finished uni so I was hoping the stress would go away and I'd get back to my old days but it didn't. Anything you've tried to alleviate stress?
anxiety causes memory loss. Look up "anxiety hippocampus loss" on google.
You have to figure out how to manage your anxiety, OP. That's almost certainly what's causing the problem.

Well, the only thing that help to me is detailed organization of my work but it doesn't remove it entirely. I wish I had a good answer to this but I'm still struggling with it too. I am, like you were, hoping it might help to finish uni but we'll see.

I've went to a therapist to help with my anxiety but it didn't help at all. Are there any other ways
>>18552373
going to a therapist in and of itself doesn't do anything... you have to commit yourself to changing the habits of mind which cause you to be anxious/depressed. A therapist can be very useful at helping you along in that process (if you can find a good one). It worked for me.

sleep more and less caffeine
