I'm 18 and will be on the track of college after this upcoming school year.

I am ranked in the top 5% in my class, so I'm not retarded, but maybe I am because I really am considering going into fashion design.

I am a (straight) guy and I see fashion as an art and a utility, but is it worth going to school? Are there more effective ways to go about fashion design? Or do colleges really open the doors to a hopeful person?

I wouldn't.
I'd get a real degree with a real career in mind and then do fashion stuff as a hobby.

I know what you feel by the way. Costume design in movies are one of my favourite aspects of them
