I have a very hard time opening and responding to texts. I will wait for days to just open a text, even if I dont suspect anything negative, it just creeps on me. The longer I wait, the worse it is to open a text.
When I reply, I start thinking as well, because unlike words, text can be read later and is always stored in the memory of the program.
Right now, I failed to inform my mother I came home safely, she sent 36 texts before I responded.
I also invited a girl via text, yesterday, its been 24 hours now, she responded and I cant open.
Usually, there is nothing bad about it when I open a message, but I think this behaviour pisses a lot of people off.
How to deal?

Just call people instead.
If you see they've texted you, just read it and call them and talk about it
The NSA will still be recording, but at least that person won't be able to go back on their device and check what you have said which is where it seems a lot of ypur anxiety about this is coming from
Calling is better anyway, and way more personal.

No one agrees to calling anymore, I prefer talking on the phone myself, as you cant escape conversations

I think its procrastination mixed with social anxiety
I met a friend while studying abroad and he texted me 3 months ago and i still havent opened it (were on good terms so its not a bad text message)
