/adv/, how do I break my addiction to sugar?
I know the simple answer is "quit eating it" but sugar isn't like a hard drug, it is everywhere. It also doesn't help that I am a pastry chef.
My craft, my love, my passion is centered around sugar. It's been a part of my life for all of my life, and now it is my career.
Despite my discipline, I am skilled at other forms of cooking and if you looked at my meals, you would assume I am healthy.
But everything from handcrafted soda, to chocolates, taffies, baked goods, you name it, I am surrounded by it all the time. I feel like an alcoholic that works at a liquor store...
You dial it back to a point where it's no longer a problem.
Fuck non-indulgence, people are goddam pussies. You're headed to death anyway, die like a goddam walking party.
Besides, what kinda pastry chef would you be if you weren't acutely aware of how sweet your work was (or wasn't)?
If you take it in at a really over the top way, then try going cold turkey and slowly re-integrating it.
