Regular exercise and a diet high in protein is supposed to raise testosterone levels, which are supposidly to blame for horniness. Exercise will get you more energy too, so will sleeping enough.

This is true for the most part. I wouldn't recommend against exercise by any means, but it is said to lower your testosterone levels (ie: because your body uses it to build muscles). Increase in testosterone correlates to increased libido. Animal meats are great for increasing testosterone levels. Depending on your diet you might be partaking in things that decrease testosterone, so cutting back on them will help. Flax seed, peppermint/spearmint, vegetable oils, soy and trans fats are big culprits.
Trans fats are generally unhealthy and are the easiest to deem worth the cut. Flax seed can be replaced with other sources of fiber. Soy can be replaced by meats and some b12 source (should you not already have one). Though, iirc red meats might be best for testosterone, they are also considered the worst health-wise. Try sticking with lean meats like chicken and turkey.
Abstinence is considered key by some, because it works for them, but from the sounds of it it hasn't helped you much. Being creatures of habit, a human is more responsive to an established behavior. Train yourself to be in the mood. If you want to be in the mood once a week, set aside Friday evening for example. If you want a daily thing, set aside time each day. Eventually your body will get in the picture and sync it naturally for you. Try not to overdo it, but so long as you aren't interfering with anything else in your life, it isn't unhealthy or an issue.
