Unfortunately, unless he's actively getting help and improving concerning his mental health issues, it won't end well.

I dated a guy with PTSD, who attempted suicide several times (not while we were dating). We had an amazing connection but he could barely function because he was an insomniac and always under the influence of something. He ended up breaking up with me, saying he could end up hurting himself or me due to his issues.

It sucks a lot, but that's the sad truth when it comes to mental illness. My guy never seeked help and couldn't improve, so if your guy has that kind of mindset too it probably won't work out. You can't help someone who doesn't wish to help himself first

They don't change above a certain age. They never will. You will waste your young years and get damaged as well. Believe me, you can't help them get better. Go while you still emotionally can. Dating is there to find a sould mate, not use your motherly feelings to try and help out a degenerate.
