I met my bf couple of years ago, we had marriage in mind when we first met. He bought me an engagement ring, we spoke about starting a family together soon after getting together.
Within a year, a lot has changed. The engagement ring became a "special present" from someone I "loved", the children were put on hold until I had a "proper job" and marriage became a "trap for retards", only retarded people got married, not intellectual and deeply connected individuals like him and I. We were not stupid to get married, we were "partners" in life. We were "more than marriage".
Fast forward 3 years and I want to move away and leave. Am I making a major fuck up by leaving?

Not really. It's pretty obvious that you want two different things. This is why its a bad idea to get engaged/married quickly, especially when you are young. Before 25, the brain isn't even fully developed.

He's older than me, I'm in mid twenties.

Neat. It's still obvious that you want two different things. And that doesn't make either person bad, it just means that it's not a good match. That's ok.
