I was in a similar situation to that of your boyfriend. I was dating a girl I had known for a long time, and she didn't wanna have sex nearly as often as me. I like to have sex daily. Not even joking. I always want to fuck, granted, I probably have a problem. But anyways, she didn't like to put out more than maybe once a week, not even, and it really bothered me.

So eventually it got to the point where we had sex maybe a couple to a few days a week upon a mutual agreement and I was satisfied with that, but she wasn't. Apparently she felt really uncomfortable about it, and the relationship ended up collapsing because of it.

My advice? If you really love him and value the relationship, maybe make the effort to fuck him a couple more times a month. Do things to spice up the intimacy together. What are some things that really get you turned on, just at the thought of it? Try implementing those things into each other's sex life.

Again, I'm not an expert, just an average joe with an abnormally large sex drive giving my two cents.
