I'll keep it short
Male 30 yo, I have an engineering degree. I am not sure I still like my field since a few months ago. Recently my parents died and left me 20k usd, I want to change my life, (cont)
Honestly, 20k isn't going to get you far

actually 20k can get him some what far, it can buy him a house. Op what type of engineering

It can't buy you a house. It could be enough for a deposit on a house, depending on where he lives and what house he buys, but he'd be looking at a significant mortgage. Putting a deposit on a house is pointless if he can't pay off the mortgage.
I'm sorry to hear about your parents. If you're not married, spend a couple of years trying a bunch of shit. Figuring out what you want to do requires you actually try a bunch of shit out. Get new hobbies. Learn new things. Stay away from the monitor.
