I'm subject to sweeping mood swings, taking me from overjoyed to depressed and back again throughout the course of the day. I want to be in a lighthearted mood all the time, one way I've learned to do this is by exposing myself to that kind of music/media. Are there any ways I can do this more reliably?

Exercise and sexual activity generally do the trick. Eating junk food too, but obvioisly not recommended as much.
btw, it sounds like you've got a bipolar disorder, you might want to consider seeing a doctor about it.

You might be bipolar. What helps me to calm down is chill hip hop and lo fi. Also look into stoicism.

Thanks, exercising has helped my confidence massively. From an outsiders point of view I guess I look bipolar but it's hard to see it like that myself, maybe It's because I've never experienced anything but this.
I'd feel strange talking to a doctor to get diagnosed. I'd have to tell him personal stuff like how I bought a litre of whiskey, razor blades and aspirin last weekend. Getting diagnosed could affect my job, and it feels like I'm making excuses for my own failures by pinning it on m

I understand i felt like that too before. See if you can qualify for disability checks. And if you ever feel like harming someone or yourself please check yourself in. Youll most likely be short term.
