SORRY IF THIS IS THE WRONG BOARD:
-Trying to get out of work by lying to my boss
-Told boss I had a trip coming up
-Says I need to email an Itinerary and Hotel Reservation to HR before tomorrow
- I don't know if HR is actually going to call to confirm or if they'll just skim it and be done with it

This. Expedia is generally fully refundable up to 24 hours before the reservation. Just book it and cancel.
But it depends on where you planned the trip, and how far away it is. If you need a flight, Southwest is really your only option, as you won't get a refund from any carrier. You'll pretty much only get points as a refund, but you can use it later.
