I'm leaving for the US soon.
I got an acceptance letter from a maritime security company for a place with one of their crews and I was pretty happy that my hard work paid off and the pay is very very good.
Long story short I told my now ex-girlfriend that I was moving and told her well before that I had handed in an application. We had a massive fight about it and broke up.
Anyway I said my goodbyes around my area (No family I've been fostered since I was 2 and my dad's side are junkies who I will never consider family ever. Changed my last name to stop them from finding me) and everyone seemed pretty upset that I'll be gone for months at a time.
My question to you /adv/ and please I'm looking for serious answers. I'm confused to everyones reaction about me leaving but they were never here for me when I was home and I'm probably never going to come back.
Should I leave it all behind or stay in contact ?

If you were never that attached leave it all behind and start a new chapter in your life. Make it what you want.

Some people liked you. Is that hard to believe?

Really, do what you want. I personally don't see a point in forcefully breaking contact in this situation.
