What is some of your advice for me at this point?
I've been thinking about taking my pay and saving up 6 months of rent including insurances, taxes, and ultilities. Coming out to about 13k. Good idea m8s?

First, maybe actually talk about it with your mom, if you haven't. She can help you with that (financially, but also with looking for an appartment, a job etc.)

Sounds silly but I think we don't always see how helpful parents can be in situations like this

Work 3 days a week and go to community college. Get a transferable degree that locks down your general education. If you can, spend that time living for rent free. If you can't wait tables part time and get a solid roomate in a very cheap place. Community colleges also do electrical and carpenter apprenticeships with the unions too if you need fast better paying work.
