Yeah thats a pyramid scheme, fucking textbook. No real job has you paying the boss money while you try to recruit other people and/or sell shit that you bought off the boss with YOUR money. If you can recruit a bunch of suckers, or resell all the knive sets you bought, it actually works out for you. But if you dont, you are a sucker for someone else. Tell your cousin hes involved in a pyramid scheme and to get out.
