How do I move out of my parents' house for the first time?
I'm seeing all this stuff about references and credit checks and applications and interviews and now I'm just so confused. I just want a cheap apartment to myself but now I feel so overwhelmed that I don't know where to begin.
I'm 25 years old, going to college without a job.

Isn't there accomodation owned by the college? In most cases you can pay extra to live alone.

Do you have ANY source of income? Living alone adds up quickly

No income but I do have $20 000 in my bank account that I've saved up from working in the past.

Correct this first. I'd argue this might be more important than finishing college.

start searching around on these or just google <area> <apartments> or look on google maps and click stuff. not sure about your area but if I wanted a 1br near my college it's $900/month plus utilities which end up being about 150 more per month. or I can just go on craigslist and find someone that's renting a 2-3-4 bedroom house and needs roommates and pay $500-650 per month with all utilities included.

I'm good with money and generally don't spend it on anything I don't need. My monthly grocery expenses aren't more than $100 a month and none of my hobbies cost money.

I'd still say get a job first. If you're confident in your ability to live frugally it just means you can afford to be pickier about what jobs you take. 20k won't last as long as you might think. Depending on where you live, rent alone can run up well over $1000 a month. Transportation costs as well, anywhere from $100-$600.
Also, what are you studying? Don't wait until after you graduate to find a job in the field you're looking for. A lot of entry level positions don't require a degree and it helps to be a familiar face when it comes time for the important interviews.
