Is it pointless to write an email with a response to your hiring manage saying:
"Thank you for keeping me updated.
I will be sure to contact you if I have any questions"
They ended their email with Best Regards.
Did they send that? Doesn't seem like something you should bother replying to then

No, the stuff in quotes is what I was thinking of sending them.
In the email they sent me (the one that I am responding to), the hiring manager gave me the contacts to my actual manager and then ended by saying they are excited to have me and that I should "feel free to contact me if you have any questions".

Sure, that's fine to send through. Whenever I contact a hiring/HR manager I always make sure to thank them for their time even if it's just an update. Manners are free, and being polite isn't exactly going to hurt your application.

Thank you. Also, I have another question.
This might be something minor but If I begin the the letter with a "Thank you" is it awkward to end by saying thank you again before listing my name at the bottom? Does it sound like I'm kissing their feet or something? Acording to my friend I shouldn't do that. I was wondering because saying sincerely sounds cliche and they already replied with best regards so shouldn't sound like an echo.
Sorry if all this seems OCD, I'm just really thankful for the job.

I end my emails 'Regards, anon'. 'Best regards' is a bit too much imo, from either side. 'Regards' is polite and professional enough.
