hello,
probably a very simple answer but this is the first time i've actually had this come up in a job application, so I wanted to know the exact answer.
a recent job posting came up that i would like to apply for but it states at the bottom : Apply by sending your resume quoting competition #.
now it says resume only and not cover letter or proof of credentials. does that mean i should only send in my resume? would it hurt if i attached my cover letter as well?
im thinking that this process just skips the bs of reading a cover letter and goes straight to your credentials on your resume?
any thoughts or opinions, please?
what type of job is this?
gov't?
retail?

Always send the full package unless clearly stated otherwise

local government

i normally always do but this just says resume, almost every other post i have looked at says please send a copy of your cover letter and resume to XXX

I would stick to just resume
Some places say 'attach any related documents, including resume, CV, letters of recommendation, certificates ,etc'.
but if it specifically says just resume, do that

hmm ya, it's a gamble but i'd rather not piss a recruiter off because i clearly couldn't read the instructions lol.
i went through 10 other postings by different places and they all save resume and cover letter. so i'll just do what it says and bring a cover letter if i land the interview
