So I wasn't sure I was going to post this but what the hell.
I'm 23, I've flunked out of college about a year ago and it's been about 3 years since I've had a job.
I was hoping to get through college and get a job in software or web development. I have actual skills
in those fields but without any sort of degree and professional experience it's hard to get a job.
I've tried to do freelance and I have a portfolio online but I haven't been able to get any clients and
it's been about 2 months since I've started. So obviously what I'm doing isn't working. My parents have
been pressuring me to find a job, which is completely understandable, I've wasted a lot of time and I
don't like the situation I'm in. I just don't know what to do now, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get a regular
job but it's hard to motivate myself to get one. I want a job that I can best utilize my skills, and make okay money
so I can afford college. I messed up my loans with my bad GPA.
I've royally fucked myself, but I believe I can turn it around. I don't know what are my next steps.
So should I give up on what I want to do and find regular work, or try to find another way.
To put off pressure from your parents show them your progress of finding a job. Even ask for advice to make it seem like you are looking for jobs 24/7. But in the end it will be you who chooses a job or if you work or not. If they kick you out that is bad parenting. You don't sound like a lazy ass. Just because you have been out of school three years does not mean you can't find decent entry level job. If it is not in your field/interest so be it for the time being. Put money aside from a decent job for your preferred job. If you have skills utilize them. Many local places seek out a social media associate. For freelance you have to keep working at it. My mom has done freelance for years and worked other jobs. She is now a successful author and runs a business. If you say it won't work, you set yourself up for failure. Don't listen to people who want you to be simple. The advice might sound good, but inside they are scared. Your inner critic is probly also telling you not to do stuff. I'm in the same spot bro. But saved up a lot from wagecuck job for self employment, so I can go back to school, etc. I will post how to find clients in a while/get more work.

I find some contradiction in your post. I assume you studied coding/web development in college, and this is the kind of job you want, but still you left? What made you leave? Is this field a passion to you?

Sorry, didn't read your whole post at first. Have you considered starting some project on your own? This might not develop into an actual job but by doing so you show real dedication I think

For your software/web development start small. Also in your next reply let me know specific work you do/know. Method 1: To find clients Google search "need website" or "need software made" , etc. Go to date setting in Google and select most recent results. Potential leads will show up. Method 2: Find a website that can search all of Craigslist, not just your local one. Simply google "search all of Craigslist" and you will find many websites that do this dope trick. Method 3: Cold Calling (Risky but can work). I'm to scared to do myself. Method 4: Ask friends or people you are related to (don't force them to buy some your shit, ask if they know someone who is in need of work) Method 5: Find musicians who need website designed, guarantee many local bands/singers/rappers have little to know social media presence. You could easily up sell them. Of course don't be a greedy bitch. For online clients a screen share application or a cracked screen share application would be valuable. Skype would alshitork. Make sure your hentai tabs or porn is not open. Online clients are hard to keep/close a sale. If you are not just out to make quick buck, but you supply value your portfolio will build. These are of course not easy to do, just ideas.
Alternative ideas:
*Start how to YouTube channel for web/software shit
*Collaboration is key
*Make free software and have ads in it
*Low level/untapped software idea:
*Block ads on youtube software
*Software that makes annoying slideshows with ads in between appear on one page. They also make you have to click back many times. Many news/pop culture websites have "top 20" or "10 ways to" (have not seen this done yet, but someone nay have. This would get many downloads.) You have code a software that can read the html/code of the upcoming pages and turn it into one page. I don't do web development and to lazy to learn coding shit
