I've been looking for people in my area who might share interests on sites like meetup.com and leddit, but can't really find many people, am I just geographically fucked maybe or are there some other kind of popular meetup sites I'm not aware of?
There might be more local sites I haven't found so I'm looking for that right now.
Anybody got any experience going to another country for meetups?
Might have to consider that.

What about just talking about your interests to the people you meet and maybe finding someone like.minded?

Not OP, but I relate to his situation, and in small communities, finding someone like-minded, especially if you have rather niche interests, is a fucking pain in the ass.

But, like, how niche are we talking about here?

You need to actively find them
I recently got a car. I've been driving to the dog park like 3 times a week. I now 'know' like 5 people that i always see there, and make small talk. Yeah, ususally talk about dogs, but you get the point.
Go to the park if you like sports. Go to a concert if you like music.
OP here, I found a group of like 30 people who might have a similar interest (not the same I was searching for but close enough, other got 0) but it's not organized on meetup.com yet, I'm not a very leadership type person, although if I might meet with these people I could steer discussion more in my direction, which could be great.

Yeah I think I'm gonna do that more, just feel kinda weird going around alone sometimes though, I live in a reserved country so randomly talking to people is also weird here (don't have friends who go outside, especially not for any other reason than to drink, I don't even drink anymore), do you just drive with your car to the dog park or you got your own dawg?

Oh and I would do that, but I don't meet many people, at least not many people who I get into conversation about interests.

I'm kinda curious about what you interest is now.
