I'm such a fucking idiot, this was my first time driving at night and I let it get into my head. I was confronted with a neighborhood I do not know and ended up turning onto the wrong side of the road. Luckily I was fast enough to turn onto another road after aggressive beeping from a car in front of me, there was about 5 seconds before I realized and thought to myself "I fucked up bad". Any advice to get through this? I'm a very new driver and my confidence just plummeted to 0. I feel like not driving for a whole year.

just go out and drive tomorrow, just be extra cautious.

I know that fucking feel. I did so much stupid shit in my first month after getting a license which also included driving on the wrong side of the road for five seconds, realizing it, and turned around while some 14 year old kids on their bikes were laughing at me. I also didn't stop at a red light because I looked at the wrong traffic light and saw it green.
It happens. Fuck it. Like >>18461109 said go out and drive as much as possible. Don't think about it, nothing happened, you didn't hurt anyone. If you keep on driving you will improve and eventually you will laugh about it like I am laughing here

Thanks, your advice is really comforting since you've experienced it too, and I'll try to drive more and carefully from now on

Ha, I've done that same shit.
Honestly just be glad you didn't get into an accident. You made a mistake because you're new, recognized that and you've learned from it. As far as I'm concerned you're better than most drivers.
Just try to look for the yellow line on the left when you're unsure, or the white line on the right. Check to see if the road signs are facing you if all else fails.
