Is aiming for a 4.0 GPA in college worth it for engineering?

Well it can't hurt. Everyone and their dog is going into engineering these days, you need to stand out in as many ways as possible.

Lots of people are entering Engineering, but not many of them make it past certain filter classes.

I never said he shouldn't. I am saying the surge in new engineering students means little since most of them will and do drop out.

He should also focus on getting an internship too.

I guess it varies on the person?

I know a lot went for other degrees such as accounting that could still use some of their credits. Others went to trades, I probably would have too if I didn't have the mathematical aptitude it requires.

Ah so that's how we have accountants in our society. I always wondered who would actively try to become an accountant.
