I have only 1 dream before all else, to buy a small piece of land and build a small home. I haven't worked in a long time, what is a job I can do that I can just take up as many shifts as I want back to back - and then take a break and pick up again if I choose too. What other costs are there when buying land in USA [AZ/CA] I see their advertised price but there has to be more, this is America after all where they shake you down at every turn. How much would it cost to build a small home bare minimum up to code?

Depends on the size of house you want. A small place will cost around 30,000 to build more if you want more space on upgrades on the house. You will have to pay property tax, and there are permit coasts for building. The lands price itself varies a lot on where you decide to buy. If you want to live off the grid you'll need to invest in a good generator or if you need to have elsectric and sower ran out to your place I'm sure theirs a fee for that as well.
