Hi! I'm starting a night shift job for a privately owned assisted living facility called Aegis on the Alzheimer's section and was wondering if I can bring my handgun to work; I have a CPL. My new work place has lockers too.

Here's the law under RCW 9.41.300

(1) It is unlawful for any person to enter the following places when he or she knowingly possesses or knowingly has under his or her control a weapon:
...
(c) The restricted access areas of a public mental health facility certified by the department of social and health services for inpatient hospital care and state institutions for the care of the mentally ill, excluding those facilities solely for evaluation and treatment. Restricted access areas do not include common areas of egress and ingress open to the general public;

If not I'll just park on the street next to the entrance door if it's available. The people that trained me said they have bums going in the trash once in a while, and they just unlocked a few doors leading outside to an enclosed area because of state law.
>>
The employer is the one to ask here
>>
I'm as libertarian as it gets; but why the fuck do you need a gun during night shift in an Alzheimer's care home?
>>
>>18448646
>Aegis

I'm gonna contact their Bellevue office and let them know their recent night shift hire is a 4chan degenerate with a gun complex.
>>
>>18448914
yeah, it's not like Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane or anything, is it?
>>
>>18448646
Just ask your fucking job you idjit. They'll give you a straight answer.
>>
>>18448914

Why not?
>>
I'm a 5'2" 90lb girl who works overnight shifts in a fucking PORN STORE and I'm not allowed to have a gun and have never needed one. I'm pretty sure you aren't going to need one either, you fucking weirdo.
>>
>>18448995
did you have to ask or did they tell you straight up?
>>
>>18448995
>lol ur never gonna need da gun anyways
non-argument, get a CCW if you can OP
>>
>>18449019
They told me on my first training day, but I did inquire further...Less because of customers/drunks and more robbery worries being one of the only non-bar businesses open after midnight. Turns out we generally have zero trouble though.
>>
>>18449026

Well the deeper argument is having a paranoid enough attitude to carry a gun to work at a senior center leads me to believe OP is the kind of person to escalate a situation needlessly and probably shouldn't be allowed to have a gun on that basis alone.
>>
>>18449031
never mind having a gun, just even working in the freaking place to begin with!
>>
>>18449032

I'm imagining OP heroically waving their gun at bums going through the trash. Or flipping shit during a patient altercation. Or...getting shot with their own gun during a patient altercation. T
>>
>>18448750
I will, expecting the worse though!
>>
>>18449026
I have a CCW. I felt safe since there was only bum stories from my lead when she had to pull out her pepper spray. Then they unlocked a few doors that anyone can open if they have prior knowledge or scout the place.
>>
>>18448995
I worked at another place and some druggy busted our windows, couldn't get in through the 2nd reinforced door, and he just slept on the couch. Our lead found him the morning. Then they gave us beepers to alert us if any doors open.
>>
>>18449041
I'm planning on keeping it in a locker :D But the residents usually just try to run out. Worse one was a guy hiding a door and tried to bash me with his walker not once, but twice after helping him up after the first attempt.
>>
>>18448646
Ask /k/ for a 25 acp mouse/wallet gun and be done with it
>>
>>18448914
Bill of Rights not Bill of Needs you fucking communist.

OP, I get it, but for what purpose? is it cause it's night shift? like you could have a situation where someone comes for the meds in the facility or something and you've gotta deal with druggies but that's not really likely.

my gun stays at home unless there's something going on in my city where tensions are higher and shit is actually going on, or I have to go somewhere where I'm likely to get into a situation where my pistol would be useful, then it stays in my car when I'm out.

just keep it in your car.

This is what autism looks like
>>
Thankfully I only experienced someone going for meds or a comfy couch while I was new and could not get past one of our doors. My new lead said she caught a state worker trying to unscrew a room holding meds, thankfully we have a nurse now at night staying in that room with key.

I also avoid going to any store now and just go straight to work. I try to tell my new co-worker at that time, but she loved to go to the store and buy us food. One night some guy tried to jump in her car while she was leaving Fred Meyer's.

I don't want to leave my gun in the car either as I worked with my friend while in college and they stole his car during the night. We found it in the ditch in the next city. Just wanted a ride.
