I have this same problem. Lots of people seem to have no idea how to initiate a conversation with a stranger if there are no visual social cues. They haven't spent the same amount of time communicating online that your or I have.

I actually don't know a solution to this, but...maybe you could try getting them on some sort of voice chat/phone service, or getting them on a date. Then they would know how to carry out a normal fucking conversation.
